McAuliffe welcomes Vice President of China’s National Development and Reform Commission to Dublin City

As Chair of the city’s Economic Development and Enterprise Committee I was pleased to meet with Mr Lifeng He, Vice President of China’s National Development and Reform Commission. The NDRC has broad responsibility for China’s macro economic performance and infrastructural development. They have recently announced the Silk Road Fund, a $40 billion infrastructural development fund to be invested outside of China. During his visit, I was happy to brief him on the City Economic Plan, our economic monitor and the Council’s Regeneration of Ballymun. As a former Mayor he was particularly interested in visiting the area and seeing the positive and negative elements of the programme. We also discussed the forthcoming announcement of the North Dublin Rail / Metro North project. Mr HE also visited the DCU Glasnevin Innovation Campus, met with Minister Richard Bruton and Minister Brendan Howlin.
